Materials
Silver - 100% of the silver used in our designs is recycled. Silver is a precious metal, and Pure silver, also called fine silver, is 99.9% pure, often stamped “.999”. Pure silver is too soft for products like jewelry. So, to make fine silver more durable copper is added, creating sterling silver, which is 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper, often stamped “sterling” or “.925”. Our sterling silver only ever contains silver and copper, and never contains other metals like zinc and nickel, which can irritate sensitive skin. Over time, any sterling silver jewelry exposed to air will tarnish, but this tarnish can be easily removed with a polishing cloth.

Silver
Silver is a precious metal, and fine silver is 99.9% pure, often stamped ".999". However, pure silver is too soft for most jewelry, so to make it more durable, we add copper, creating sterling silver. Sterling silver is 92.5% fine silver and 7.5% copper, and is typically stamped "sterling" or ".925". Our sterling silver only ever contains silver and copper, never other metals like zinc and nickel, which can irritate sensitive skin. We are committed to environmental sustainability and purchase our silver from suppliers who source metal from refineries, not mines. Additionally, we refine all our silver scraps in-house for use in new designs.
Copper
Copper is a natural element known for its warm red-orange color, ductility, and malleability. It has been used in jewelry for thousands of years, and many people find that copper jewelry relieves joint pain from arthritis. Over time, copper will darken or develop a blue-green patina. We sometimes use this patina intentionally to add depth and interest to our pieces. We take pride in using sustainably sourced copper in our jewelry. Many of our pieces feature upcycled copper, salvaged from construction sites where large copper pipes and flashing would otherwise go to waste. By repurposing these materials, we create beautiful, eco-friendly jewelry while reducing our environmental impact.
Gold Filled
Gold-filled is not an alloy but a layered material constructed in two or three layers. The core metal is usually jeweler's brass, though sterling silver was sometimes used in the past. Single-clad gold-filled has all the gold content in a single layer on one side, while double-clad material splits the gold content into surface layers on both sides of the brass core. The gold alloy is bonded to the brass with heat and pressure, and the resulting material is sold as sheets or wire to jewelry manufacturers. Gold-filled jewelry is superior to gold-plated jewelry because the gold layer is much thicker and more durable. This means gold-filled pieces last longer and are less likely to wear off over time, providing you with beautiful, long-lasting jewelry.
Brass
The brass in our designs is jeweler's brass, an alloy composed of copper and zinc that closely matches the rich color of 14K yellow gold. This allows us to achieve the luxurious look of gold while keeping costs low. By using jeweler's brass, we can pass the savings on to you, offering beautiful, high-quality jewelry at an affordable price.
Bronze
Bronze is an alloy primarily composed of copper and tin, known for its warm, brownish-gold color and greater hardness compared to pure copper. This durability makes bronze a popular choice for creating vintage and antique-style jewelry that stands the test of time. We take pride in using high-quality jeweler's bronze in our designs, ensuring that each piece retains its beauty and charm for years.

Jewelry Care Instructions
Your jewelry is crafted with precious metals that may naturally develop a dark tone, known as tarnish, when exposed to oxygen. Tarnish can be easily managed with regular wear and light polishing.
Please note that as metal artists, we occasionally intentionally darken or patina parts of our pieces to enhance small details or achieve an artistic finish. Exercise caution when cleaning patinaed jewelry, as excessive cleaning or polishing may remove the desired coloration.
To maintain the luster of your jewelry:
Wear: Wear your jewelry often, since the natural oils in your skin help polish the metal and keep it looking shiny. However, avoid contact with harsh chemicals, such as household cleaning products, as they can cause corrosion and tarnish. Remove jewelry before engaging in household chores or swimming.
Storage: When not in use, store your jewelry properly to prevent tarnishing. Air exposure can accelerate tarnishing, so we recommend storing your jewelry in airtight plastic bags with anti-tarnish strips. Additionally, store each piece separately to prevent scratching, especially for soft metals like silver.
Cleaning Your Jewelry:
- Wash: Clean your jewelry with mild soap and water.
- Dry: Thoroughly dry your jewelry immediately after washing.
- Polish: Tarnish can be removed by gently polishing your jewelry with a polishing cloth or a piece of flannel or microfiber.
- Protection: For added protection, consider applying a light coat of carnauba wax (car wax) following the container instructions.
To assist you in caring for your jewelry, each purchase includes a complementary anti-tarnish strip and polishing cloth.
