These vibrant cloisonné mountain landscapes are handcrafted from sterling silver and hand-painted with glass enamels. Cloisonné is an ancient metalworking technique using small fine silver wires, silver and gold foil, and colorful glass enamels to create intricate designs of vivid colors. The small wires are formed into shapes to create small cells. Each small cell is then carefully filled with grains of finely ground glass enamels and fired in a kiln. Subsequent coats of finely ground glass are applied and fired until the desired design is achieved. Because of the nature of the process, each piece is unique.
