These handcrafted earrings feature unique mini purple chalcedony landscapes. These matching chalcedony landscapes are so rare and gorgeous, each one, like a window into another world, with a view of golden rocky cliffs and a swirling purple sky. The stones are set in fine silver, framed with a sterling silver beaded decorative border, and antiqued to emphasize the details. The sterling backplate features a hand-sawn twig and leaf design and a small logo mark. The handmade ear wires are embellished with a 7 mm natural citrine bead and two small copper beads.

Silver
100% of the silver used in this design is recycled. Silver is a precious metal, and Pure silver, also called fine silver, is 99.9% pure, often stamped ".999". Pure silver is too soft for products like jewelry. So, to make fine silver more durable copper is added, creating sterling silver, which is 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper, often stamped "sterling" or ".925". Our sterling silver only ever contains silver and copper, and never contains other metals like zinc and nickel, which can irritate sensitive skin. Over time, any sterling silver jewelry exposed to air will tarnish, but this tarnish can be easily removed with a polishing cloth.

Chalcedony
The term chalcedony is derived from the name of the ancient Greek town Chalkedon in Asia Minor. Chalcedony, which is found worldwide, is the name for a group of stones made of a microcrystalline or cryptocrystalline variety of quartz, which means the quartz crystals are too small to be seen without high magnification. Chalcedony is found in almost every color including white, gray, black, brown, brownish red, orange, yellow, light to dark green, blue, and lavender. In jewelry usage, the name Chalcedony is usually applied only to the light blue translucent form. Other stones in this group are known as agate, jasper, petrified wood, bloodstone, fire agate, tiger's eye, chrysocolla, chrysoprase, onyx, sardonyx, and carnelian.
